The home improvement industry is in a mess, sole traders are struggling in an unpredictable and demanding market, the public are unable to find good tradesmen and manage the process. 1ROOF simplifies and revolutionises the processes of home improvement by providing an online platform on which home owners and tradesmen can organise their work and build a relationship. Small residential building work has long been fraught with difficulties in almost every department: How do I find a tradesman? How do I manage the work? What are the guarantees? Attempts have been made to address these problems but with limited success. Existing online options are effectively directories, offering very little in terms of support and guarantees. They aim to solve the problem of residential building from the client’s point of view, rather than that of the sole trader. Using a similar model to existing successes such as Uber or Airbnb, 1ROOF improves upon other industry models by empowering the individual, providing sole traders with the benefits of a company structure without the associated barriers to entry, overheads and inflexibility.
