Endpoint Security literally means securing endpoints. Thus endpoint security refers to the securing of a network by preventing security threats at endpoints. Such security threats occur at endpoints when devices- mobile devices, laptops, wireless devices etc- are connected remotely to the network. We call such devices endpoint devices and each endpoint created on the network by such devices needs to be secured. This constitutes endpoint security. To make endpoint security work, a network should be equipped with an endpoint security manager, which basically comprises a centrally located security software, seated on a server or a gateway within the network itself.
